Motorbike Insurance
Motorbikes have been used on public roads since pre-war times, but it was not until after the war in 1945 did the British Government impose a legislation for Motorbikes to be insured on mass. As these were the more economical mode of transport, the working class went up in arms over the decision.
Over the years, Motorbike Insurance has become ultra competitive, with new Bike Insurance companies popping up every month. Just recently, there has been a boom in insurance sites, with over 16 new websites going live for Motorbike and Motorcycle Insurance in the last 12 short months.
Classifications or Insurance Groups are dictated by an independant body of motor insurers who deal directly with the bike manufacturers. Once they have announced a new motorbike launch, the insurance body will asses the details released by the manufacturer to estimate the group rating. The details they use are the estimated top speed, replacement cost, previous history from manufacturing defects and lastly the replacement value of the machine.
